About
We’ve created this site to build an online community among residents, share information, and chronicle the construction and move-in process for the 110 Livingston Street building in Brooklyn, NY (see map). We will also post news and goings-on in the building’s neighborhood, Downtown Brooklyn, and surrounding areas.
A little about this historic building–it was built in 1926, designed by the firm of McKim, Mead & White, arch
itects of the historic New York Penn Station. 110 Livingston originally served as a headquarters for the Elks organization, and housed a ballroom, pool, bowling alley, and guest rooms. In 1940 it was converted for use by the City of New York as the headquarters for the New York City Board of Education. It served as the Board of Ed headquarters until 2003, when the City sold the building to Two Trees Management as part of reforms to the Board of Education, and the revival of Downtown Brooklyn. Several floors were added to the historic structure. Two Trees is seeking a local arts organization to use the historic theater space on the ground floor.
We’re excited about our new home, and look forward to meeting our neighbors, both online and in person. We hope new residents will register and use this space to share news, neighborhood tips, questions and concerns. Thank you for visiting!
