Tree-icide on Boerum Place

Several stumps are all that is left of the beautiful Ginkgo trees once living on the Boerum Place median at Joralemon Street. Though the city has plans to plant a green median strip all along Boerum Place, for now it appears we’re losing green rather than gaining it.

As previously reported, DOT is planning a number of improvements to the Boerum Place corridor, including extending the planted median along Boerum Place to Atlantic Avenue. The project was originally slated to begin in the fall of 2006. Hopefully the new greenery will materialize soon.
