We’re excited about another Antic-related event that takes place right outside 110 Livingston. It’s the New York Transit Museum’s 14th Annual Bus Festival! Here at 110, we love a good bus festival, and this one is sure to spin our wheels. There will be vintage buses dating from 1917 on display and ready to board on Boerum Place between Atlantic and State.

When it’s not packed with prisoners or being slated for expansion, the Brooklyn House of D is serving as a set for TV crime shows. The new FOX show Canterbury’s Law shot there on Thursday.
According to the show’s website, Canterbury’s Law is “a courtroom drama about a rebellious female defense attorney who’s willing to bend the law in order to protect the wrongfully accused.” It also includes “a brilliant but motley crew of attorneys.” Rebellious Female! Law Bending! Motley Crew! We hope Julianna Margulies’ career survives this one.
Between proposals for a condo envelope with ground-floor retail, and Hollywood magic all around, it’s almost like the House of D isn’t even a real jail!
The Beastie Boys have come and gone, but their spirit lives on at the Atlantic Antic! The best street fair in Brooklyn takes place this Sunday, Sept. 30, 10am-6pm! Our favorite Antic band ever, Fisherman, won’t be playing this year, but you can download a great map with the music lineups that will be there, along with the many food options.
Deep pockets for pickin’ are sponsoring the Antic this year: Sovereign Bank leads the way, followed by Two Trees, the Nets, and Forest City Ratner.

The old BP station at Atlantic and Boerum Place (right across from the House of D and a block from Trader Joe’s) is still a development waiting to happen–but we’ve got more information thanks to the Department of Buildings’ new project of scanning application materials.
Filings at DOB show the developer is proposing a five-story condominium with 40-odd units (pdf), with ground floor retail/commercial, parking, and roof terrace space. However it also appears that the plans have been disapproved a couple of times, most recently today. Rumor about this site has been legion–the Brooklyn Paper had reported eight stories back in May, and Brownstoner reported 14 units in June. Anyone have additional insight?
Many in the neighborhood would like to see this gap around the Brooklyn House of Detention begin to be closed, and this site is key to that process. Even a small supermarket at this location could put the Atlantic Ave. Key Food out of business in a week. We’ll keep an eye on this one.
Even though we have no say whatsoever in the actual decision, we thought this should be put to a vote: which of the sumptuously-named colors above should be the new hue of the base and entryway of 110 Livingston?
