NYU Takes (Part of) Livingston Street, and Possibly Brooklyn Poly
Hello to 110′s new neighbor, NYU. The university has leased dormitory space just down the block at 67 Livingston, the sliver building adjacent to the wedding-cake 75 Livingston. Also, NYU and Brooklyn Polytechnic have recommenced merger talks. In 1973, NYU shut down its engineering school, and many of its professors migrated over to Brooklyn Poly, the second oldest engineering school in the country. Merger talks stalled a couple years ago, but optimistic press releases from both schools suggest that now there’s a will, so there will be a way. Under the plan as proposed, Poly would become the Polytechnic Institute of NYU. Will the torch replace the Chase symbol over Metrotech?
