Fulton Mall Updates: Lighting, Green Space

Fulton Mall Renovation Rendering

The Post reports today that the City is investing $15M in updates to the Fulton Mall streetscape–which despite its successful retail could no doubt use a face lift. We thought the lighting might be the biggest help toward making this the 24-hour neighborhood that the City has envisioned. The rendering above is from the Fulton Mall Improvement Association. We also welcome removal of the Fulton Mall sign pictured above, which has probably outlived its useful life. Rendering of the new Albee Square at dusk below.

  1. What a disappointment! 15M and it seems as though all that’s happening is new ugly lighting, phone kiosks (who uses a phone today?), and some outdoor seating? Where are the plans for wifi, new planters, atmospheric lighting, and retail that is more in line with the new neighboring residential developments? How does this plan really change anything at all at the Fulton Mall?
