110 Livingston Blueprints Discovered
When Two Trees purchased the 110 building, no architectural plans of the building existed–so the company had to retest the entire structure from the ground up. A quick search of the Brooklyn Public Library’s archives just uncovered the above photo which may be the only “copy” of the original blueprints remaining–it shows two gentlemen–James Delaney and Thomas Reilly–poring over what appear to be the original plans for 110 as drawn up by McKim, Mead & White.
The photo was taken in 1939–right before the building’s conversion to the Board of Ed headquarters in 1940. A close look suggests that they’re examining the first floor–the theater seems to be visible in the middle of the structure. Can any local history or architecture buffs out there shed any light on this?
