Bring Back Gage & Tollner!
Excellent news — the TGI Friday’s which stole Gage & Tollner’s rightful place in New York culinary history has closed. Now we can only hope something more appropriate goes in at this landmarked interior — like maybe Gage & Tollner?
From a 1956 review of G&T (which was founded 1879): “I’m told the belly broil, using only the belly of the soft clam, is a gem of a dish for $1.35. I say try the deviled crab for $1.85.” Check out the full review for a cool old photo of the interior.
